Founded in 2020 by a linguist and a software engineer who realized their worlds were more alike than different, Hydra Group was built on a radical idea: that language and technology are two sides of the same coin — and that the most powerful businesses speak both fluently.

2020

The Beginning

Hydra Group was founded in Nairobi, convinced that language and technology had to evolve together. Their first clients: an NGO needing Swahili translations and a startup needing a multilingual app.

2023

First Global Offices

Office opened in Nairobi. The team grew across language and IT. We signed our first enterprise IT contract — a network infrastructure rollout across East Africa.

2024

The 20-Language Milestone

We crossed 20 active languages and launched our dedicated cybersecurity division after completing our first major security audit for a regional bank. Language and IT were now fully unified under one brand.

2025

Cloud & Transcription Divisions

Launched dedicated Cloud Solutions and Transcription divisions. Within 18 months, we were managing cloud infrastructure for clients across five continents and handling transcription for major broadcast networks.

AI + Human: Our Philosophy

While others raced to automate, we made our commitment clear: AI assists, humans decide. We built proprietary quality tools that flag cultural ambiguity and code vulnerabilities — but every final product is signed off by a human expert.

Why Language and Technology

There is a word in Portuguese — saudade — that has no direct English equivalent. It describes a longing for something beloved that is lost. To translate it simply as "nostalgia" is technically defensible and spiritually wrong.
